The Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer (Obligation ceremony)

There will be two Iron Ring Ceremonies this year, both taking place at Grant Hall on Queen‘s University campus on Sunday, March 17, 2019. The first commences at 12:30pm, and will feature mostly Queen‘s University graduates. The second commences at 2:30 p.m., and is for the graduating class of the Royal Military College of Canada, part of the Queen‘s University class, and senior candidates. Each Ceremony will take approximately 50 minutes. Please note that anyone arriving late will not be permitted to enter the Hall. Those attending must have participated in a previous Iron Ring Ceremony or are in attendance to receive their Iron Ring.

The Wardens of Camp 3 will host a reception for all those participating in the Ceremony immediately following each Ceremony in the Dining Room of Ban Righ Hall, as well as the guests of the newly obligated engineers. There will also be a reception at the Senior Staff Mess at RMC of Canada following the second Ceremony. Light refreshments will be served, and a cash bar will be available. If you are a previously obligated engineer, you are more than welcome to participate in either Iron Ring Ceremony and in the ringing of newly obligated engineers, and in the receptions that follow.
